The Jetpack is a transportation item added to Jailbreak in the Jetpack Update, located near the ramp at the Mountain Lookout. It runs on limited fuel that players can refill for free when on the ground.

The Jetpack was revamped in the Apocalypse Update: Part 2 Update with a new look, removal of rocket fuel purchases with Robux and balance changes.

Overview

Current

Modern-day Jetpack features cleaner visuals and fire a more realistic fire effects unlike its original predecessor, but with few changes. Paid Rocket Fuel option is gone and the Jetpack now runs purely on the basic fuel variant. Double tapping the jump button and holding it off of the ground will have you hover over the ground for roughly 2 seconds, after that you are sent flying freely. There's an exception that allows the user to fly instantly, if the ground beneath the player is approximately the height of where the player can fall and ragdoll themselves. This can be easily done off of roofs and cliffs, if the player has enough decent height beneath them when jumping off.

The Jetpack has a limited capacity, fuel lasts for around 15 seconds if used in a single usage when flying without stopping. The fuel meter has 5 squares of fuel which reduces itself from both sides of the meter until the middle. The fuel recharges overtime when the player is on the ground or in a vehicle. Fuel does NOT recharge when skydiving, parachuting, or when the user is swimming. Fuel recharging takes 25 seconds if the Jetpack is completely drained.

If a player has a Jetpack equipped, their enemy can shoot at them to reduce their fuel tank. ~100 damage given to the enemy is roughly 2 squares of the fuel meter. The Jetpack fuel can be reduced by only shooting at the user with bullet weapons. Explosives do not reduce the fuel amount, nor do lasers or any form of damage that's not by player bullets. Jetpack Fuel is reduced even when the Jetpack is not directly exposed to the impact.

Tasing an airborn criminal using a Jetpack completely ragdolls and stops the criminal from flying for the entire duration of the Taser's stun. At a certain height, the tased Criminal can parachute if high enough, even if the criminal is stunned by the Taser. Taser does not reduce the fuel amount at all.

Original

When using the Jetpack, players can fly high into the air by double jumping and holding the jump button, making it useful and convenient for escaping confrontations. If there is fuel left, the Jetpack will allow its wearers to descend slowly, preventing fall damage - descending uses less fuel than ascension does. It is recommended to tap-fly (e.g. tap the spacebar or jump button) rather than simply holding down the jump button. Players should avoid shutting down the Jetpack, as encountering it while in mid-air will make the player fall and take fall damage. There is also an additional option of using Rocket Fuel to fly for GoldenRobux25 by using Rocket Fuel. With that option, the colors of the flames that are emitted by the Jetpack will be purple, and the player will fly with improved speed, height, and length of the Jetpack's flight duration.

As of the Balance Update, whenever the fuel runs out, there is a 15-second delay to refuel. The Jetpack's tank size has also been decreased, causing the fuel meter to deplete faster.

Before July 2020, Criminals can use the Jetpack to fly away after they have been hit by the police's taser, but as of the July 2020 update, Police officers can now taze Criminals using the Jetpack to disable the Jetpack.

Tips and Tricks

Criminals

The Jetpack should serve often more of as a mobility item instead of a fleeing item. Jetpacking with the 2 second hover-cooldown is bad because the cop has enough time to either tase you or even arrest you. The 2 second hover is only good if the cop is decently far away, as the distance won't be enough for the cop to get to you by the time youre flying.

Jetpacks can be used to gain highground advantage such as roofs of buildings or massive hills. Often times this can help if the cop doesn't have an aircraft or a Jetpack. Jetpacks can also be a very time saving tool to get inside the Prison by simply flying over the walls, or you can catch a Cargo Plane by the Bounty Bridge and land onto the roof of the Plane if you won't make it to the Rising City Airport.

Jumping off of a roof or a cliff sends you flying instantly without having to hover for 2 seconds. This feature becomes very useful if you position yourself near an edge of an elevated spot, as you can jump off and instantly fly away if a cop gets too close.

The criminal is to be advised that police officers can still tase them airborn or shoot down their Jetpack fuel. The said criminal must be cautious if the cop has good Taser aim and how much knowledge the cop has when it comes to Jetpacks.

Killing cops that catch up to you with Jetpacks is a must-eliminate priority if they use a Jetpacks often.

Police

It is useful for a team of police to have a Jetpack as criminals wouldn't expect the police to fly after them. A great tactic to counter a criminal that is on a roof or a big hill is to reposition behind them without seeing you, flying up and then parachuting down onto the criminal for a sneaky arrest.

If a cop is already on an elevated spot with an edge to jump off, then the Jetpack can be used aggressively to push down onto criminals from above. Keep in mind that if on the ground, the cop will need to wait until the 2 second hover time is over to start flying.

Jumping off of helis is also helpful, as jumping off of an airborn vehicle means that you are already in the sky, making you fly instantly.

If a criminal attempts to fly away with the Jetpack whilst they are still hovering on the ground, make a use of the Taser and tase them down. If they are already flying, shoot at the criminal to reduce the Jetpack fuel moderately, just dont forget to not kill the criminal as shooting at the Jetpack damages the criminal too.

The cop must make sure that they wont loose the sight of the flying criminal, as they later can either land on the ground to spawn a vehicle, or attempt to kill the cop off of a highground.

Following the criminal with your own Jetpack can work too, but you must be aware of the criminal on where they are going and what might be their next possible move.
