The Flashlight is one of the items in Jailbreak, which can be found at the Rising City Gun Shop, Crown City Gun Shop, Mountainside Town Gun Shop, Prison Gun Shop and the Military Base.

Overview

The Flashlight can be switched on by left-clicking it while equipped and left-clicking it again to turn it off. Originally, the item used to spawn in various locations and was free, until the 2020 Fall Update; since then, it costs 1,000 to purchase. The Flashlight was added into both the Gun Shops as part of the new Gun Shop menu.

The Flashlight was initially the rarest-used Jailbreak item, since all the parts of the Jailbreak map were bright enough for players to see without any illumination at the time. The reason why the developers added this is due to Roblox's old lighting system, when nights were much darker and players could barely see anything in the dark. However, with frequent updates on Roblox's lighting system, nights were brighter, officially eliminating the need for the Flashlight.

However, in the Apocalypse Update: Part 2 update, the Flashlight has since been reworked and ultimately fixed, removing the rather dim light with a much lighter, more illuminating light, and with an overall darker night signifying the apocalypse themed update, the Flashlight is now considered to be more useful in terms of seeing better during night hours.

Trivia

• When the Flashlight was first released, it used to have a separate display next to the armory in Prison Police Stations, Rising City Police Station, and the now-removed Mini Police Station, before merging with the other items in a later update.
• As of the Wings/Spoilers Customization Update, the Flashlight received a lighting buff, having it emit brighter light when used.
• As of the Fall 2020 Update, the Flashlight costs 1,000 in Gun Shops and Military Base.
  • However, players could still get it for free from a table in the war room in Military Base, at the base of the Radio Tower, and the attire section in Police Stations.
    • It was then patched in the Miscellaneous Update #86.
• In the 2024 Apocalypse: Part 2 update, the Flashlight has since been fixed with a newer, better light which allows players to see better in the night.
