The River is a large location in Jailbreak. As of the Oceans and Ships Update, the River is a sprawling set of lakes and small canals that splits the Jailbreak map in two.

It is mostly decorative, and bridges are built over the river for Criminals and Police officers to drive their vehicles across. The Cheater Island is located in the center of the river, as well as many ramps for players to ramp over with their cars or boats. The Jet Ski and Cruiser also spawn here by the docks next to the river.
History
The River has been in Jailbreak since Jailbreak was released. It is mostly decorative, and bridges are built over the river for Criminals and Police officers to drive their vehicles across. The Cheater Island is located in the center of the river, as well as many ramps for players to ramp over with their cars or boats. The Jet Ski also spawns here by the docks next to the river while the Roadster, Model 3, and Dune Buggy spawn next to the riverbank. The Cruiser also spawns in the Bounty Bay area where the river ends.
The Power Plant and Jet Ski Update saw the addition of numerous obstacles and ramps to the river, along with the release of Jailbreak's first water vehicle, the Jet Ski, which currently spawns near the Bank and Roadster spawn. In the Oceans and Ships Update, the river that was connected to the lake in the first map expansion extended, cutting the Jailbreak map in two. In past Winter Updates up to 2019, icebergs would spawn on the river, which could be used as a ramp by the Volt. After the winter updates ended, the icebergs would melt away, signaling the start of Jailbreak's "summer" season. However, the flag that used to be on one of the icebergs is still there. After the Rocket Fuel Update, icebergs would progressively become smaller with each following update after being added into the game. In the 2022 live event parts of the river especially near the old Power Plant location were removed and turned into a bigger Bounty Bay. Along the river you will find numerous ramps and water obstacles added in the Jetski update as well as for the Jetski Racing Gamemode, you will also find the Cheater Island in the center of it. If you drive a car in the river slopes were added on the sides of the land so you can get your vehicle out and dont have to spawn a new one.

- When Jailbreak first came out, the river was on the original map. The river has always been in the game and to this day is still in the game.
- The river splits the map up, with 7bridges over it. 2 of these bridges are used by both trains.
- Players will still take fall damage and ragdoll when landing in water if falling from a high height.
- The river got its first actual "island" in the 2018 Winter Update, referred to as Cheater Island.
- Cheaters/exploiters used to appear here when banned.
- Driving a car in the water will it slow it down slightly.
- When activated via the Control Tower, the dancing platform will appear in the river, around Cheater Island.
- In the Map Expansion Update, the river has extended to a lake (where it ends) in one direction and in the other direction to another black mysterious tunnel, removing the old waterfall by the Rising City Airport.

- As of the HD/Racing Update, the Jet Ski racing gamemode takes place at this location. This was removed when gamemodes were removed.
- In the Oceans/Ships Live Update, it's technically no longer a river. The river is now more of a canal connecting from coast to coast and divides the Jailbreak map.
- Parts of the river were removed likely to trim the map size during the 2022 Live Event.
- The banks of the river are sloped so you can easily get your vehicle out of them.
- There used to be a part of a river in the town which got removed in an unknown update.
