Live Events (also known as Live Updates) are a special type of update that occur when Jailbreak reaches significant milestones or celebrates an anniversary. Live Events involve updates happening in real time, which players are in an immersive experiences within the game, and usually have a storyline.
Overview
Despite time zones, Live Updates happen simultaneously throughout the world.
They typically feature countdowns, some kind of major change, and, most importantly, an update that is released live and in-game. As of June 2026, there has been five live updates, with the latest one being the 2026 Live Event & Update, which occurred at 9:00 AM, June 13, 2026 (PST).
List of Live Updates
2026 - Live Event & Update
The 2026 Live Event & Update was a Live Event that celebrated the ninth anniversary of Jailbreak's publication to Roblox, and brought back its aura and former glory as part of the Aura Improvement Project. It took place on June 13, 2026 at 9 AM PDT. The update revamped the north of the map, adding new locations such as Crown City, a new robbery, the Grocery Store, added Season 32 and more.
Buildup
The 2026 Live Event was first teased by asimo3089 with the announcement of the Aura Improvement Project (AIP) Phase 2, which dedicated an entire phase of the project to the live event.
On May 22nd, 2026, the Volcano Criminal Base was updated following the release of the 2026 Live Event teaser trailer. The interior was changed, with lawn chairs and a satellite spotted outside the base.
A Countdown was added 8 days later on May 30th, 2026, counting down to June 13th, the date when the event took place.
Event
Five minutes before the event began, the countdown timer started to move from Dunes to the top of mouth of the Volcano Criminal Base. This movement lasted 1.5 minutes. 50 seconds before the event began, a message appeared on the screen stating that the musics used in the event was stream-safe: To our streamers: All event music is stream safe! Then, 30 seconds before the event began, the in-game clock hit 7:00 AM, music started playing, and a message appeared on the screen telling players to turn up their volume: Players! Turn up the volume. The event will begin soon.
The event began with a massive rift portal opening over the Volcano, and the developers revealing that back in 2024, the money raised was not just for the strike force against the CEO, but rather to also build a machine. Then, they revealed that they'd discovered the CEO was actually working for somebody else. Before they could continue, John (The mascot for the game in earlier years, Prisoner B- 01) and Rusty (B- 28) revealing that they'd captured the CEO. However, the CEO broke free and revealed that he had rigged the Volcano. Soon, it began erupting. Red rain fell over the mountain, meteors began falling, and massive lava geysers began erupting all over the map. The developers put everyone in a Torpedo and placed a waypoint on the map (a road leading to Crater City in main event, and near Crown City Gas Station in Beach Town in replays) to gather everyone together and increase the signal to open another rift. As soon as the players were together and the signal reached 100%, a rift opened up and everybody was sucked into the void.
The players woke up in the void, with many artifacts from different points in the game's history including the 1M Dealership sign, an AIP truck, and a tomb statue all floating around. The CEO, having also rifted, soon grew huge and began attempting to kill the players. However, before he could deal any damage, his boss appeared (although hidden) insulted him and demoted him to the VP. He then shrunk again and the devs regained signal. Announcing they had cleaned up the map and were ready to transport the players to the new island. A final rift portal opened, and the players were sucked through.
The players woke up on a brand-new island, that kept 'what mattered' but also revamping the entire north section. The developers then thanked the players for nine whole years of Jailbreak.
Dialogue
Tank: We did it!
Asimo: Tank, easy, they don't know yet.
Asimo: Players, remember 2024? When you raised two billion dollars?
Badcc: We told you it was going for a strike force!
Tank: And it did. But you were also funding... THIS!
Badimo: You built this!
Asimo: While that powers up, we've made a shocking discovery...
Badcc: The CEO! He's been working for someone this whole time!
Asimo: We caught him crafting a new plan, to win the grace of his boss once and for all.
Tank: Yeah, well, about that.
Incoming Transmission: Sorry to interrupt your lore drop. We got him.
Noob: Is that John Jailbreak?!-
Incoming Transmission: Wha -
B-28: -Tank, we got your signal. It's time to bring him to YOU!
Tank: You are clear to drop in, B-01 and B-28!
B-01: Heads up! Coming in hot!
CEO: Hmph.
CEO: Not so easy...
CEO: You didn't think I'd notice my blueprints missing?! You thought I'd just sit back?!
Tank: ...Asimo?-
CEO: I've rigged your precious Volcano! And if I can't have Jailbreak.
CEO: Neither can your players!
Asimo: The machine! Tank, status!
Tank: It's terrible, the rift is... oh no.
Asimo: My map!
Tank: Asimo. I can spike the machine's power, creating a rift for us to hide in...
Tank: But I need all the power I can get!
Players! We can use your connection to power this machine if we all work together.
B-01: I've placed a marker on your maps. Get over there! Now!
Asimo: Thousands of servers! All showing a spike in power!
B-01: Just a tiny bit more!!
Tank: WE HAVE POWER! ASIMO, PULL THE LEVER!
From Jailbreak: You've been awarded the Live2026 Rims. Congratulations.
Asimo: Take a minute. Look around. Nine years of history are here.
CEO: I've had ENOUGH! And now -
????????: My CEO...
????????: You know what I dislike most about you? You think you're the protagonist.
CEO: I built this empire! I -
????????: I gave you Jailbreak. The players took it back. I gave it to you again! They took it back again.
CEO: You couldn't have done this without me! You think I'm not-
????????: Enough. Effective immediately, your role at Crown has been... downsized.
????????: You'll be Vice President of Crown. You will report to me.
VP: I-
VP: Players...
VP: No! This was THEM! The players did this! Just give me one more shot, I-
????????: Pleasure meeting you, [player's displayname].
B-01: He's lost his power...
Asimo: Players... Your fight for Jailbreak made this all possible. Thank you.
Asimo: Tank, how are we looking?
Tank: The rift held, but some of the game didn't...
Asimo: But we've all been working on something special, and we're ready to show you.
Tank: Initiating transfer!
Asimo: 5
Badcc: 4
Tank: 3
B-28: 2
B-01: 1
(Teleporting to the new map for continued text)
Badimo: Welcome... to Jailbreak's next chapter!
Badimo: A new world is waiting. With a new City, new UI, new vehicles!...
Asimo: We kept what mattered, but much of it, you've never seen... You can even rob Tank now!
Tank: Don't hurt me-
Badimo: And our old friend is bound to his mansion. I hear he has a new collection.
Badimo: And with him locked away, the streets are now yours to take! Season 32 is out, now. Enjoy!
Badimo: Players, one last thing...
Asimo and Badcc: When we made Jailbreak, we didn't expect all of you!
Badimo: Some of you grew up in this game. Met your friends here.
Badimo: And YOU... made Jailbreak. So for 9 whole years, THANK YOU!!! Have fun! ♥

2024 - 7 Year Anniversary Live Update
The 7 Year Anniversary Live Update celebrated the seventh anniversary of Jailbreak's publication to Roblox, and took place on April 20, 2024 at 10 AM PDT. The update brought back OG Jailbreak for a limited time, added Season 21 and more.
Buildup
The 7 Year Anniversary Live Update was first teased in the thumbnail of the Apocalypse Part 2 Update, with faint text at the bottom of the thumbnail showing various years of Jailbreak's lifespan. The live event was officially announced on March 29, 2024, with the announcement that the monthly update cycle will be discontinued after the live event. The first teaser was released on April 6, 2024, which showed a room in the Mansion with 4 televisions, each lighting up one by one showing all the past Live Events, with the last frame showing very brief text saying "WE NEED TO GO BACK". The teaser revealed the date of the live event to be April 20, 2024. The first trailer then released on April 10, 2024, showing off the Satellite at the Mansion, as well as an older version of Jailbreak. The official slogan was revealed to be "Jailbreak: Rewind". The final trailer was released on April 16, 2024, which consisted of very quick frames teasing the live event, showing the UFO beam in the lake of the city, and the Meteor teaser from 2022. The end of the trailer showed the OG Jailbreak thumbnail slowly fading into the screen. Finally, the final teaser was released a day before the live event, consisting mostly of recut footage from all the other trailers, as well as revealing the event prize for attending. Jailbreak also changed it's thumbnail several times teasing the event.
Event
Three minutes before the event began, music started playing, as well as a global in-game message telling players to turn their volume up: [System] Volume on! Welcome to the Live Event! When the countdown reached zero, the in-game clock hit 9:00 PM and event began with asimo3089 being interrupted by the CEO, announcing that his plan worked, with UFOs starting to fly into the Jailbreak map seconds later. The developers give every player Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun, telling them to buy them time defending off the alien invasion sent by the CEO as they have an escape plan. After defeating all the aliens, the UFOs start flying away, only for a giant beam to shoot into the lake summoning a 50,000 HP boss that shoots lasers into Rising City, destroying buildings and terrain. The developers attempt launching several nukes from the Military Base in attempt to kill it but fail, as they all warped through a wormhole and turn into the OG Monster Truck. The boss starts running away, before static covers the screen, with several alien motherships appearing covering all parts of the map, as well as meteors causing total mayhem. The developers tell the players that the CEO has gone mad and that they need to go way back to stop this from ever happening. The developers start powering up a time machine, with a wormhole consuming everything into it once the bar reaches 100%. Upon being consumed, all players are teleported back to May 17, 2019, with the developers explaining they have a special task force that needs 2 billion cash funded to stop the CEO and save the world, rewarding an OG La Matador upon completion, and thanking players, streamers, and creators for 7 years of Jailbreak.

2022 - 5 Year Anniversary Live Update
The 5 Year Anniversary Live Update celebrated the fifth anniversary of Jailbreak's publication to Roblox, and took place on April 2, 2022 at 10 AM PDT. The update doubled the size of the map, adding new locations such as Crater City and a new robbery, the Crown Jewel.
Buildup
The 5 Year Anniversary Live Update was first teased in the thumbnail of the Tow Trucks Update, in very faint text imprinted on the road in the bottom-left corner. The first trailer for the live event was released on March 22nd, 2022. The teaser revealed the date of the live event to be April 2nd, 2022. It consisted of dialogue between asimo3089 and badcc, which implied that a massive disaster was about to hit Jailbreak and confirmed that there would be no involvement from aliens. Meteors could be seen streaking through the sky in the background, foreshadowing the disaster that would strike. The final trailer was released on April 2nd, 2022, the day of the event, consisting mostly of recut footage from the first trailer. Jailbreak also changed its thumbnail several times to tease the live event.
Event
The event began with the developers, asimo3089 and badcc, announcing that meteors were falling upon the map. Suddenly, a third individual called Unknown (later confirmed to be the CEO) began laughing, much to the confusion of the developers. Following this, the first meteor fell into the desert, with the developers telling the players to jump on it. Doing so would break the meteor and set free a Limited Spoiler that players would gain. More meteors began falling in different places, destroying several landmarks like the top of the Rising City Bank and the Bounty Bridge. Finally, a massive meteor crashed into the mountains behind the Town, beginning to blur the players' screens with static. As the screen became covered with static, Unknown declared that he would "rule all crime", before the developers asked the players to rejoin the server. Upon re-entering the game, the developers explained that they had survived and explaining what was added in that update, and wishing a happy birthday to Jailbreak.
Dialogue
Static: ...
asimo3089: Jailbreak players! Are you there??!
asimo3089: METEORS are headed towards Jailbreak!!
badcc: We don't know how or why... this shouldn't be possible.
badcc: Oh? You've been seeing them in our skies?
Static: ...
Unknown Signal: Muahahaha
asimo3089: What was th-
asimo3089: TAKE COVER!!!
badcc: Look to the sky!
badcc: That one landed in the desert!
badcc: We think something is inside, try jumping on it!
badcc: We'll share the reward with anyb- LOOK OUT!
Static: ...
asimo3089: I've got a bad feeling about this...
asimo3089: Don't get yourself killed!
badcc: Look out!
badcc: More incoming!
asimo3089: That meteor is heading straight towards the bank!
badcc: ...
badcc: And that one is heading towards our bridge!
badcc: The bank!
badcc: The bridge!
asimo3089: it's gone quiet....
badcc: ASIMO ...
badcc: ... do you see that on our radar ... look to the sky...

Static: . . .
asimo3089: I can't... see..
badcc: Hang in there!
Unknown Signal: This attack was no accident!
Static: . . .
Unknown Signal: "I will rule all crime!"
Unknown Signal: "I will rule... Jailbreak!"
Static: . . .
asimo3089: Did you hear that too?
badcc: Hang tight! I'm working on restoring the server!
asimo3089: If you experience a shutdown, rejoin!
(Global server shutdown>rejoin for continued text)
asimo3089 and badcc: Welcome back everybody!!!
asimo3089 and badcc: We've survived.
asimo3089: There's a NEW world out there to explore beyond our mountains!
badcc: With a NEW robbery to conquer too!

2020 - 3 Year Anniversary Live Update
The live update was to celebrate Jailbreak's three-year anniversary. Described by the developers as Jailbreak's "biggest update", it brought about a new city and an entirely new sector of the map, with bridges and a small cargo port.
Buildup
It was initially leaked in the thumbnail picture for the Gun Skins update of March 8, 2020. At the bottom right corner of the image, underneath the Eclaire, "OUR NEXT UPDATE IS LIVE" is written in small letters. This was further proven by the Flintlock Update where the text was further elaborated on. Further information came from tweets by asimo3089 and the Badimo account, publicly confirming the upcoming live update. Eventually, a teaser trailer for the event was published.
In the teaser trailer, general information is revealed, and the theme of the event is hinted at. First off, players are shown running through the city. Afterward, a single cloaked player is shown walking to the Military Base, and then inside a mysterious never-before-seen room. The area looked like some sort of computer/control room, surrounded with server racks. The main focus of the place is a big red button with a crossed-out hand symbol (meaning "do not touch") next to it. These factors strongly indicated the possibility of a nuclear-themed event.
Event
When the countdown reached zero at 10:00 AM on April 4, 2020 (in PST), the event began. First, dialogue boxes appeared at the top of the screen, showing an argument between the developers and the hooded figure taking place in the Military Base. Ignoring asimo3089 and badcc's pleas, the figure pressed the red button, initiating the launch of a large missile. After the identity of the hooded figure is revealed, the missile launches from the silo, flies high into the air, and begins its descent. It lands in the river and causes a massive explosion that engulfs the entire map.
Several natural disasters were triggered by the missile explosion, first of which is a large and violent thunderstorm. Not soon after, a news crew reported a large tornado headed towards the downtown area. This tornado promptly destroyed the entire Rising City, sucking up nearly all of the buildings and carrying them with it in a giant rotating spiral. After a few minutes, the spiral of buildings floated away into the sky, and the next disaster, a flood, began. The rain from the storm became too much, and the entire map slowly flooded with water. In addition to the map flooding, a cartoonish water graphic eventually began rising and covering the player's screen. When the screen was completely obscured, the player was kicked from the game. From there, they were prompted to rejoin so they could play the new update. Music played for the first few minutes in new servers, and fireworks exploded around the new and improved City area.

asimo3089 and badcc: Hey!! Don't push that button!

asimo3089 and badcc: !!!
News Reporter: "A Tornado warning is now in effect. Avoid Downtown until further notice."
asimo3089: No! Not again!
badcc: I've never seen anything like this in Jailbreak.
asimo3089: I knew the lightning was extra deadly lately! What have we done?
badcc: Oh no! There's too much rain! The map is flooding!

2018 - 2B Visits Live Update
This live update was made to celebrate two billion visits in Jailbreak. The Live Event happened on November 8, 2018 at 5:57AM PCT (UTC-8).
Buildup
In the time leading up to the live event, there was a Visits Counter feature to count down to the exact two billionth visit. The Volcano Criminal Base also began emitting smoke. Upon the two billionth visit, the live event started.
Event
First off, the Volcano finally erupted with an orange particle effect. The eruption itself resembled a giant orange dust storm more than actual lava. Shortly after the eruption, buildings in the Rising City began to sink slowly into the ground. The process took a few minutes, and by the end, only select structures remained. Such structures include the Rising City Gun Shop, the Garage, the Jewelry Store, and the bottom floor of the Rising City Bank. The flat and barren area looked similar to how it did in the alpha versions of the game, as shown in videos and images by the developers from before Jailbreak's release. After a few more minutes, the final phase of the live event was set into motion. New buildings with more detailed and stylized textures rose from the ground, replacing the old City. Most notably, a brand-new Hospital was added, featuring an Ambulance vehicle. As the new City settled into place, fireworks exploded over the area, celebrating and thanking the community for two billion visits to Jailbreak.
Dialogue
Unknown: The volcano is erupting!
Unknown: THE CITY IS SINKING!!!
Unknown: Something is happening to the city!
Unknown: Live 2B Visits Update!
Unknown: Thank you for two billion visits!

Trivia
- Hints and teaser content are usually added to the game to build up to live updates, either through update thumbnails, in-game changes, or video teasers.
- The 3 Year, 5 Year, and 7 Year Anniversary Live Events all had teasers in the form of hidden secrets in update thumbnails.
- The 2026 Live Event did not use thumbnail secrets, but rather introduced major changes to the Volcano Criminal Base, with the interior being given a new color scheme, Epic_Tank making modifications, and a Satellite Dish being constructed on the Volcano itself.
- A common trope with each live event is a set of lawn chairs and umbrellas being placed near or around the location the event takes place.
- The 2B Visits Live Update was the first-ever live update on a Roblox game.
- In the 3 Year Anniversary Live Update, approximately 500,000 players joined the Live Event, making it highest number of players playing in Jailbreak's history.
- The 3 Year Live Update Replay was supposed to be removed two weeks after the live update.
- However, it was removed in the Cargo Ship Update on June 6th, 2020.
- The 2026 Live Event & Update can be considered the largest update in Jailbreak history.
- The player turnout for the 2 Billion Visits Live Event was not as high as it could've been, due to happening at a somewhat impractical time in most regions of the world.
- During the 3 Year Anniversary Live Update, many natural disasters and weather phenomena occured until the map was flooded.
- The tornado didn't deal damage to players nor could it suck up player vehicles.
- The rainstorm that occured during this live event met the prerequisite to spawn the Passenger Train,
- The lava from the event could not damage players.
- The lightning that occured could not start fires or damage players either.
- No matter what, players couldn't escape the cartoon water effect, even if they were above the water.
- The tornado siren is the same siren that plays when a nuke strikes.
- The tornado sirens that originally appeared during the event will reappear in their original locations during an event replay.
- The 2 Billion Visits, 3 Year Anniversary, 5 Year Anniversary, and 2026 live events all featured major map changes.
- The 2 Billion Visits event featured a revamped Rising City, the 3 Year Anniversary event added oceans and Bounty Bay, and the 5 Year Anniversary event introduced Crater City and Cactus Valley.
- The 2026 Live Event completely remade the northern part of the map, removing the aforementioned Crater City & Cactus Valley and replacing them with Crown City. Other minor changes were done across the entire map.
- The 3-year Live Update saw the first usage of the Notification.
- More specifically the shape to the text box and how the text appears visually and using sounds.
- The flooded map used in the 3 Year Anniversary Live Event had initially appeared in test servers.
- The 2018, 2020, 2022, 2024, and 2026 live events all happened 2 years from each other.
- The Camaro that you had to touch in order to receive the "Live Glider" in the 5 Year Anniversary Live Event used the old Camaro model.
- This model was retired in the August 2021 Update, being replaced by a new model featuring an interior.
- This model is still used in event replays, but won't reward the Live Glider.
- The 2024 Live Event and update that came along with it marked the end of the regular monthly update cycle, ending updates for Jailbreak aside from new seasons and the occasional new content.
- However, a new update cycle with the Aura Improvement Project began in late 2025 and continues today.
