The Inventory, also known as the hotbar, is a mechanic shared among most Roblox games. It is a bar at the bottom of the screen that holds all the items and tools a player is currently carrying.

Overview

The Police default hotbar contains a Pistol, Handcuffs, Taser and Road Spikes. Criminals and Prisoners start off with nothing, but can obtain items and weapons later on.

To equip an item in your inventory, either press the hotkey number on their keyboard, press the item on mobile, or use the mouse cursor and and click on it. The first slot is always the 1 key, the second is the 2 key, and so on until the 0 key for the tenth slot. (Any hotbar number above 10 cannot be accessed by pressing a key; they must be clicked on with the cursor). If an item is equipped, the user's Roblox avatar will hold the selected item. Clicking (or holding 'E' for handcuffs) will initiate the tool's action, though not all items have this ability. Players can click and drag an item to reorder it in their inventory. When they hold an item or weapon, the circle surrounding it will brighten.

Tutorials

In the Fall 2020 Update, tutorials to escape the Prison were added to assist new players. However, in the 2023 Prison Update, they were removed.

Prison tutorials

  1. "Head upstairs and exit the cell building!"
  2. "Enter the sewer the escape the prison!"
  3. "Walk through sewer and climb out!"

The tutorials are reset when changing teams.

Robbery tutorials

In the Winter 2020 Update, new tutorials were added to guide players on how to rob the Bank Truck.

Bank Truck

  1. "Drive the truck to the marked location!" (Only visible for Police, removed).
  2. "Unload money from the money truck!" (Visible for both Police and Criminals).
  3. "Bust the back doors of money truck open with C4!" (Only visible for Criminals).

Tips

Prior to the Nukes Update, tips were located above a player's inventory. They were written in white text and cycled in order. Each tip stayed on the screen for 45 seconds before showing the next one. Tutorials replaced the game tips in the Fall 2020 Update.

Police

  1. "Walking into the bank vault will arrest all players involved." 
  2. "You can disguise your vehicle in the garage."
  3. "Police cars are slightly faster than criminal cars." (This was because during the early days of Jailbreak, Police Camaros were faster than normal Camaros. After a new siren system was implemented, the Police Camaro was removed, making this tip inaccurate).
  4. "Arrest players to receive their bounty."
  5. "Press on criminals car with handcuffs to eject the driver."

Criminals and Prisoners

  1. "You can rob banks after you escape, but you'll need a keycard!"
  2. "Head to the criminal base to pick up some more items."
  3. "Press & hold behind the backs of police to pickpocket their keycard!"

Tooltips

Tips were re-added in the Return of Royale Update as tooltips. Each tooltip stays on the screen for 2 minutes and 30 seconds before switching to a new one, and they are not team-specific. They can be disabled from the settings menu. There are currently 104 different tooltips which can appear in-game.

  • "Find a jetpack on the highest building in Crater City." (Outdated)
  • "Find more weapons at any of the Gun Stores."
  • "Find the Tomb within the dunes."
  • "Give Prisoner Rusty a Donut for another way to escape."
  • "Gliders offer a great way to glide across the map."
  • "Hold Shift to make your car drift!"
  • "Homes are available for you to buy and customize."
  • "Homes can act as your spawnpoint and offer weapons."
  • "Hyperchromes are the rarest reward you can find."
  • "In a Private Server? Try using the freecam command."

  • "Level 10 rewards a Nuke you can launch from the Military Base."
  • "Lock on to cars with explosives! (With RPG or Jet)"
