Dogs are a feature in Jailbreak, added in the release of Season 2: Out Of This World. Modeled and animated by supernob12three, both dogs are a one-time purchase, found at the Pet Shop in the Mountainside Town, and can be spawned inside Homes and Penthouses.
Overview
The main use of dogs is to assist in arresting or killing enemy players, by attacking and dealing damage. They will also bark to alert the owner of nearby enemy players.
There are currently two breeds of dogs: German Shepherd and Bulldog. Players may use any breed, but specific breeds perform better for their intended teams. For example, the German Shepherd deals maximum damage (40 damage) only when used as a Police Officer (read more about damage in the Abilities section). The Bulldog is the Criminal equivalent, and only deals full damage when used as a Criminal. Dogs deal less damage when not paired with their respective teams (e.g. a Criminal using a German Shepherd).
After being adopted and named, dogs will follow their owner wherever they go. They will also teleport to their owner if they are a specific distance from them. When the player enters the driver's seat of a vehicle, the dog will typically ride on or inside it. The only exception are bikes, the ATV, and the Torero, where the dog will attempt to run alongside.
To rename a dog, simply go back to the Pet Shop and press "E" on the respective dog slot. Type in a new name and press "re-adopt". Re-adopting will not affect your cash.
Abilities
- Attack: Dogs will attack players that their owner shoots/gets shot by. They will chase and circle the enemy, rushing towards them to deal small bits of damage, dealing a maximum of 40 HP. This means that they cannot kill a player or bring them below 60 health.
- Enemy alert: When there is an enemy player nearby, dogs will bark and point to alert their owner.
- Pet: After standing still for a few seconds, dogs may lie down on the ground. Getting close to the dog will trigger a petting animation.

Trivia
- These are the first and only animals that players can directly interact with in Jailbreak.
- Before the addition of dogs, Piggy in the Sewers was the first animal in the game. Piggy was removed in the February 2021 Update.
- As stated by Badimo, if a player dies or (as a criminal) is arrested while having a dog, the dog will return to the Pet Shop.
- The empty slot beside the Bulldog in the Pet Shop can imply that a new dog may be added in the future.
- asimo3089 said in a Twitter reply[1] that the reason why Badimo added petting for dogs into the game was to be featured in a post from a Twitter account called @CanYouPetTheDog.
- Dogs were one of the most requested features to be added to Jailbreak, dating back to 2017.
- Dogs will teleport to the player when getting it too far from it, such as players sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle while someone else is driving.
- Dogs have a place to sit on 90% of vehicles in the game, as confirmed by asimo3089. Notable exceptions include all bikes and the ATV.
- asimo3089 said in this tweet back in 2018 that said if Dogs are added, bullets would deal zero damage against them.
- This turned out to be true when it was finally added.
- A trick can be used with C4 and any dog. As shown by MyUsernamesThis in a video, a C4 can be placed on the dog, which can increase the dog's usability.
- Once the C4 has been placed on the dog, shoot the targeted player. As the dog runs to the player, equip the C4 remote, and detonate the C4 near the player. This deals at most 15 damage to them and ragdolls them, making it a very useful trick for police.
- This was removed as of The Epic Bug Fix Update with the removal of dog collisions between objects and players.
