Deaths in Jailbreak occur when hit points (HP or simply, Health) belonging to a specific player run out. When a player dies, their avatar will ragdoll and they will also lose all of their items.
Overview
Criminals will respawn either at the Rising City Criminal Base or Volcano Criminal Base, with nothing in their inventory except a Pistol if they have one. If they reset, they will become a prisoner and spawn in their cell and have to wait 5 seconds.
Police will spawn in Police Stations or the Military Base depending on the schedule with a Pistol, Handcuffs, Taser, and Road Spikes.
Prisoners will respawn in the Prison Yard, Cafeteria, or the doors heading to the Main Building (formerly the Telephone Room); depending on the schedule, or in their Cell (if they reset as a Prisoner or Criminal, get arrested, with nothing in their inventory other then a mansion invite if they have one.
Players with the VIP Gamepass have two extra spawn choices, being the Crown City Gun Shop and the Mountainside Town above the 1M Dealership.
If a player has a Dream Home claimed, they will spawn there by default unless they choose their spawn.
Health
As in most other Roblox games, when players lose health, the health bar will become visible with a green color, then a paler green. Once the the health bar is halfway from being killed, it will be colored yellow, and then orange. If a player is very close to death, the bar will be colored red.
If a player loses all their health points (100), commonly classified as the bar turning completely white the player’s avatar will ragdoll on the floor. (including the now-removed ‘OOF' sound)
However, Jailbreak has a different death system to Roblox, so if a player's health bar is very close to 0, then the death screen will still play and they'll still get respawned at the base(s) or choose a spawn elsewhere.
The lower a player's health, the slower they are, making it easier for Police to arrest Criminals/guilty Prisoners. Police use this feature to their advantage frequently, as the reduced walking speed means better ability to catch up with the criminal. Criminals must also be careful of this feature during robberies, as this can make them more susceptible to lethal obstacles such as lasers and cameras. Hitting the red zone in a health bar when performing a heist almost certainly means death as the player won't be fast enough to jump with distance.
Health will regenerate slowly after the player stops losing health. Health can regenerate faster by eating a Donut. A donut will grant the player 20 health. Health can also regenerate faster by sitting at the stretcher of an Ambulance, which will heal 10 health per second, or being inside the Forcefield Launcher bubble, which also heals 10 health points per second.
Death Messages
Death Messages are seen after the player dies. These will show a message in red text, normally saying something humiliating or funny to the player after death. These death quotes are also translated into the language that the player is playing on.
"You lived a good life..."
"Oops."
"You died.."
"Defeat..."
"Who writes these messages..."
"What did you do that for?"
"???"
"That was silly"
"Better luck next time..."
"Try harder next time."
"You gave it your all."
"Did you get that on camera?"
"Whelp."

Causes Of Death
Current
Listed below are various hazards that can damage and cause death to a player:
| Hazard | Overview |
|---|---|
Resetting
|
The most obvious way of death. To respawn, click the menu button at the top left of your screen, then press Reset and Confirm (Esc+R+Enter can also be used as a shortcut). Criminals and Prisoners will be respawned in their cell and released after 5 seconds while Police will respawn at a random spawnpoint. |
| Police Punishment |
Police officers will die and become a prisoner if they shoot or arrest three innocent prisoners. |
| Fall Damage |
Fall Damage is a simple process that happens when a player falls from a place high enough for the player to ragdoll. The damage taken depends on the fall's height. |
| Punches |
Other players that punch your hitbox will cause you to take damage. If repeated enough times, death will occur. |
Drowning![]() |
Whether it be swimming or in a vehicle, an oxygen supply bar is displayed above a player's avatar whenever they are submerged in a water body. If a player stays in the water for a prolonged period of time, the bar will go down and eventually deplete the player's health bar, resulting in death. |
Weapons
|
Every weapon does certain amounts of damage per bullet to a player. However, some have different abilities as well. For example, the Rocket Launcher can create fires after explosion, which can damage the player if they touch one. |
VP
|
The VP, added in the 2022 Winter Update, utilizes many ways to kill you. For more information, see VP. |
Mansion Pressure Plates
|
They can only be found in the VP boss fight. After taking the elevator, there are several rows of hidden pressure plates that pop out of the ground when the player gets close enough. Stepping on one activates lasers above it that will drain most of your health. |
Lasers
|
Lasers are among the most common hazards in Jailbreak. They can be found in the Rising City Bank, Jewelry Store, Power Plant, Mansion, Crown Jewel and the Oil Rig. These lasers have been in Jailbreak since the Public Beta Release. There are multiple types of lasers: Ground Lasers, Still Lasers, and Moving Lasers. Touching these lasers will take away 25% of the player's health. |
Spotlight
|
Spotlights can be found on some floors of the Jewelry Store and in the Museum. These spotlights have the same functions as lasers. Unlike lasers, spotlights can only be on the ground. Touching these spotlights will reduce the player's health by 25%. However, unlike the Jewelry Store, when one touches the spotlights in the Museum, the alarms will be triggered, making the spotlights move faster and turn a red color, as well as notifying Police. |
Hydraulic Press
|
There are two Hydraulic Presses, both located on the Power Plant conveyors. If a player is crushed by one of the Hydraulic Presses, they will lose half their health and briefly have their avatar appear squashed. |
Piston
|
The Power Plant's Piston' can instantly kill any player unfortunate enough to collide with it. The beam can be avoided by crouching or having a short avatar. |
Wall Lasers
|
Added in the Part 2 July Update. They can only be found at the Power Plant. Touching these Wall Lasers will take away approximately 25% of the player's health. Due to the conveyor belts, however, the player is most likely to get stuck and die almost immediately. |
| Cargo & Passenger Train |
Both not only serve as heists, but also as hazards. The player will die instantly if they touch the front of the train. |
| Turrets |
The Military Base has its own defensive turrets, which were added in the 5 Days of Vehicles Update.
The Cargo Ship Turrets are a hazard added in the June 2020 update. They are only present on the Cargo Ship.
The Oil Rig Turrets are a hazard added in the 2023 Winter Update. They are only present on the Oil Rig.
|
Fires
|
Fires are naturally generated by lightning strikes during rain, and deal damage to the player over time. They can also be started by firing the Rocket Launcher's projectile or firing a weapon in the explosive barrels in the Oil Rig robbery. The fires can be put out using the Firetruck for a |
Crime Port Warehouse Pit
|
It's not only used to complete the Cargo Ship robbery, it is also a hazard. The Warehouse Pit that is used to drop the crates from the Cargo Ship can be used to kill the player as it absorbs them and deals high amounts of damage. |
Power Plant Pit
|
The bottom of the Power Plant features a shadowy Pit. If a player falls into it, they will die instantaneously. However, if they stand still, they will not take damage. |
Nukes
|
Nukes are a feature added in the Nukes Update which can be launched once the player reaches level 10 or by purchasing |
Oil Rig Explosion
|
The Oil Rig explodes once the TNT timer reaches 0. It produces a gigantic orange field that enlarges in the same manner as a nuke. A player hit by it will instantly die. |
Explosive Barrels
|
Scattered around the Oil Rig are barrels that, if shot at, will explode and deal splash damage to players within close proximity. Players can also take damage by the fire left behind. |
| Map Border and Void |
The Map Border is an invisible, non-collidable wall that is found outside the map borders. The main reason why this was added was to kill players who can’t finish the Cargo Plane robbery. When touched, it deals the player 20% HP damage. The Void is similar to the map border, but is under the map. It is available in all Roblox games. Once a player touches it, their avatar disappears and they die and respawn. |
Lightning Strikes
|
Lightning is a minor feature in Jailbreak that can occur during a rainstorm. When a player gets hit by lightning, they are instantly killed or lose most of their health, and the lightning causes a random fire. Private server owners can also trigger lightning. |
Electric Fences
|
Located in Prison Police Station, Prison and the Military Base. Touching these Electric Fences causes 25% of the player's health to be taken away. Some electric fences can only be opened by Police or players with a Keycard. |
Lava
|
The Lava, found in the Volcano and the Criminal Lair, can damage the player if they fall into it. If the player stands still, they will not take any damage even if they are touching the lava. The same applies to the lasers and fences. |
Dogs
|
Players can get damaged by one of the Dogs from the opposing team. However, the Dogs cannot completely kill a player. |
Spikes
|
This is the first obstacle in the Tomb robbery. Before the Spikes pops out, the tiles will glow, signaling that the spikes will be activated beneath them and warning players to stay clear. The spikes decrease your health by 25 HP if stepped on, and the spikes take roughly 1 second to pop out after the tiles glow. |
Arrows & Pit
|
This is the second obstacle in the Tomb robbery. Like the previous section, platforms will light up regularly, warning players of an approaching trap. Arrows will shoot about 1 second after the tiles light up. Getting hit by an arrow will result in your health decreasing by 60. If you fall off of the platform, it will send you back to the beginning of this obstacle and deal more damage. |
Unstable Bridge
|
This is the third obstacle in the Tomb robbery. The Unstable Bridge is suspended between two rock platforms. It is recommended to move swiftly, as parts of the bridge will collapse once stepped on. |
Wood Beams
|
This is the final obstacle in the Tomb robbery. Hop into a minecart and press E to duck underneath various wood beams along the way out. Hitting into a beam will result in you losing some health. |
Battle Royale Storm
|
In Battle Royale, the storm has a dangerous area encircling the safe zone. Any player outside the safe zone is in the storm and takes damage. Over the course of a game, the size of the safe zone progressively shrinks, forcing remaining players into the same location. Players can play Battle Royale in VIP servers. |
Removed
| Hazard | Overview |
|---|---|
Cameras
|
Cameras have been in the game since the Jewelry Store Update. These cameras would create smooth red spotlights, which damaged the player over time. They were removed in the Jewelry Store 3rd Revamp update and replaced by the Spotlights. |
| Bounty Island Electric Floor |
In the underwater maze in the Bounty Island, the floor deals players damage and ragdolls them. This only applies to criminals and prisoners, as police do not take damage from this. |
Cargo Ship Crates
|
When a player touched a Cargo Ship Crate that was attached to a helicopter rope, they would ragdoll and take damage. As of an unknown update, however, this no longer happens. |
Lava (Live Event)
|
Players not inside full protection can take damage if they touch the Lava. If the player stands for too long inside the lava they will die (similar to lasers, cameras, and fences). This was removed in the Volcano Eruption Part 2 Update. |
Piggy
|
From 4/3/2020 to 2/6/2021, players could be killed by Piggy between 9:45-11:45 in-game time inside the Sewers. If it was their first time being killed, the player would get the free Piggy Rim. If the player ran up a ladder, Piggy was able to follow them up the ladder and possibly even into the Prison or Rising City. Piggy and its reward were removed in the Dogs Update. |
Alien Invasion Storm
|
In Alien Invasion, the storm was a dangerous area encircling the safe zone. Any player outside the safe zone is in the storm and takes damage. Over the course of a game, the size of the safe zone progressively shrinks, forcing remaining players into the same location. The Alien Invasion storm doesn't shrink. Players could play Gamemodes at the Control Tower. |
Sewers Pit
|
At the end of the Sewers, there is a pit with sewers' water running underneath. Players will lose health if they fall into the pit, and they will die in a matter of seconds. |
Punch Box

If you click choose spawn, you will have 10 seconds to decide or you will automatically be respawned in a random spawn location. You cannot choose a spawn point if you die from resetting your character to prevent abuse. The spawn options for choosing spawn are listed below.
