This article features both the former and current Crews feature. If you are looking for Crews who can battle against each other, see Crew Battles.
Crews were a feature in Jailbreak that was released in the April 2021 Update, along with the Apartments revamp and Season 3: Looking Back. On March 4th, 2023, Crews have been revamped, along with the addition of Crew Battles as part of the Crew Battles Update.
As part of the Season 29 Update, Crews along with Crew Battles were removed with the removal of the Crew UI.
Overview
As part of the Crew Battles Update which revamped Crews, Crews now save forever, and across servers. In order to access the new Crews, you used to have to redeem a code as Crews had launched only in a "BETA" stage but is now free for all users. Before the update, Crews only worked in one server and had a maximum of six users per crew. You could also only own a crew if you bought a House or Apartment and it was only valid for 1 play session.
Crew Battles
Crew Battles is Jailbreak's newest competitive feature. You can compete against other crews to earn higher ranks and cash prizes. You can also challenge friends for practice.
Objective
The objective of Crew Battles is a police vs criminals speedrun utilizing Jailbreak's core features, arresting & robbing. Crews are thrown into either teams with their respective crew members, and have to stop the other team from completing their objectives. Police officers must stop criminals by arresting and killing, while criminals have to complete a checklist full of robberies.
Winning a Crew Battle gives the winning crew
10,000, with the addition of
2,500 if you own the VIP Gamepass.
Top Crews can takeover both Jailbreak cities with their color and flags on buildings. View the top crews displayed on a leaderboard located at the Crew Tower in both Rising City and Crater City.
Crew Vaults
Current
The new Home Vaults.
To learn more about Home Vaults, see Dream Homes.
In the Dream Homes Update, Crew Vaults are now called Home Vaults with Crews no longer required to arm them. Along with the no crew requirement, rewards are no longer split between players, but instead given to everyone who is there during the arming process.
Original
The original Crew Vaults.
Crew Vaults came alongside Crews. They are a way to make extra cash when performing targeted Robberies & Heists, which can be chosen by any Crew members.
First, place down a Crew Vault in your Houses & Apartments. Target a specific robbery with the arrow buttons on the lower right of the Crew Vault, and then arm the Crew Vault. You must have 2 or more Crew members to arm the Crew Vault. You can only have up to 2 Crew Vaults in your apartment/house and up to 2 Crew Vaults in your furniture inventory.
Over the next 15 minutes, any time a Crew member successfully robs the targeted heist, an extra 20% of the robbery cash will be added to the Vault. This value is reduced in Private Servers. You can continue to rob even after the 15 minutes are up; as long as the Vault is "ACTIVE", cash will continue to accumulate per targeted robbery. After 15 minutes, you can open the Vault at any time and step inside to claim the cash. All the money inside will be equally distributed to all Crew members, and a message will display in chat: "[Crew Name] collected [amount of cash] from their Crew safe!"
Crew Vaults has a maximum capacity of
8,000 cash. It has been capped most likely to prevent auto robbers getting an unlimited amount of money.
Beware, as Police can raid your house/apartment at any moment. They must hold E to open the door. Once inside, they can break into your Crew Vault by solving a puzzle identical to the Power Plant. Once inside, Police collect cash from Crew Vaults at a rate of
100 per second, giving criminals time to stop them before they take all of the money. An alert will go out to all Crew members if an apartment/house is being raided by a Police officer. If Police successfully pull off a raid, a message will display in chat: "[Player] stole [amount of cash] from [Crew Name]'s Crew safe!"
Playtime to profit is measured in minutes, assuming the player has two Vaults, always maximizes their profits per rotation, and if they collected most efficiently with time. Real results may vary with raids and inefficient collecting.
Formula: CEILING(p/(16000/n))*15 p=price, n=number of players.
Strategy Tips
Current
Original
- It is recommended to stay with your team in the same vehicle, especially one with many seats, to help each other out if they are in a bad situation. Examples of good vehicles are the Black Hawk, Surus, Monster Truck, Sentinel and Cybertruck.
- Try to not have too many Crew Members if you are planning to start a Crew just to make money from the Vault, so that you will have a larger cash pay-out.
- It is recommended to target high-paying robberies- such as the Museum, Power Plant, and Cargo Ship - to make money from the Vault quicker.
- Set up defenses in your house/apartment to make it harder for the Police officers to pull off a successful raid.
- Make sure you have Turrets (a "Furniture" item) strategically placed around your House/Apartments to be ready for Police officers who will raid, and to also buy more time so they don't get to the Vault and take the money, while you and your Crew reach there.
- Try to block the windows with a Furniture item to prevent being damaged by outsiders and to hide Vault or turret locations.
- Barricade doorways and corridors with furniture. Beware, however, as Police officers can shoot down furniture rather quickly.
- If you are playing a short session, buy an affordable house/apartment to make sure you don't overspend and lose too much money over time.
- Put more than 1 Vault in your area so that you can obtain more money by doing the specific targeted heists.
- Make sure that you check on your Vault often and claim the money when possible. This will prevent Vault cash from getting stolen by groups of Police officers before your Crew can come stop them.
- Leave whatever you are doing and try to kill the cop who is trying to rob the Vault. If you come late, be alert ,as the cop may be camping inside the house/apartment.
- As a Police, Crews could have an advantage if you choose your location wisely, as you will spawn there, giving it an advantage or disadvantage depending which apartment/house you will choose. This can also be the same as a Criminal.

Trivia
Current
- When Crew Battles released, it was placed in Beta and players had to redeem an invite code to have the ability to create/join a crew.
Original
- The rate at which Police officers collect cash from Crew Vaults (
100 per second) is the same as the Rising City Bank (
50 every half second) and the Bank Truck (
100 every second) before it was buffed in a miscellaneous update. - When Police force open a house/apartment's front door, a banging sound effect will play. This is a reference to the "FBI open up!" meme, however it cuts out the actual "FBI open up!". Instead, it only includes the beginning, which is the loud banging.
- This is most likely to avoid copyright.
