Bans are one of Jailbreak's most important and invested systems. A ban is given to a player when the player has exploited, although other reasons for a ban have been recorded.
Overview
When a player is banned, the player will be prevented from playing Jailbreak normally until they pay
1,200 for the Get Out Of Jail Card. If they are banned again after paying for the gamepass, they will be permanently banned from playing the game.
Current
The anti-cheat script remains but has been significantly improved. asimo3089 stated that their system automatically "tracks everything"[1] from users to detect cheat programs, the things being tracked including: devices used for logging in[1] and exploit programs used by users.[2]
If a player is banned or unbanned, the action is logged for review,[3] and the developers review most of the bans in-person.[4] In addition, asimo3089 stated that bans are not done without video proof.[2]
The bans are given either automatically by the system or by the developers personally.[5]
Jailbreak Ban Jail
Main article: Jailbreak Ban Jail Added in the March 2022 Update of March 5th, 2022, along with the unban gamepass, the Jailbreak Ban Jail is used as a spawn place for banned players for an offer of purchasing the unban gamepass.
The Jailbreak Ban Jail consists of two floors: the upper floor is an enclosed circular room emulating the Cheater Island and the scenery around it, while the lower one is an upscaled version of a prison cell. If players step out of the grey baseplate supporting the Cheater Island's tree and cage, the entire circular room will fall apart and they will drop into the cell room. If they fall into the void at the cell room's exit door, they will fall back at the circular room.
Players who have been recently banned will receive a permanently-shown timer counting down to the date they are offered the unban gamepass. When the timer ends, a permanently-shown GUI box will appear at the center of the screen, showing an agreement form players must tick before being able to purchase the gamepass.
Unban Gamepass
Officially named the Get Out Of Jail Card, it is frequently referred as the unban gamepass. It can only be purchasable for banned players in the Jailbreak Ban Jail. Players must pay
1,200 for it to receive a one-time unban. If they are banned again after having purchased the gamepass, it is a permanent ban.
Unbanned accounts are given several punishments and restrictions, which can be read in the Jailbreak Ban Jail and must be agreed by the players before purchasing for the gamepass, including:
- Their cash will be reset to
100,000. - All of their items (e.g. purchased weapons, items, vehicles, vehicle customizations) will be removed from their accounts.
- Formerly, Seasonal Items, Hyperchromes, adopted dogs, brake levels, engine levels and colours wouldn't have been deleted, but this was changed in August 2023 when asimo3089 announced that the system was changed and the inventory would now be wiped. [6]
- Limited cars will be removed.
- Their accounts will be limited with certain features, including future game features. (e.g. Dropping Cash)
- They will be permanently banned if they are banned again after having purchased the gamepass.
Badimo stated that although the gamepass costed Robux to be paid, they provided the gamepass to give banned players a second-chance and were not looking forward to profit off it, and that its price acted as collateral.[7]
In addition, Badimo stated that old season system prizes would be also removed from banned accounts as they could be easily obtained via buying levels by using in-game cash, which was exploitable,[8] unlike the current season system which heavily relies on contracts.
Previous
An anti-cheat script was implemented to deal with exploiters, but as it did not detect all exploiters automatically, Badimo had created a Jailbreak Exploiter form, which mainly used video proof, in the hope of getting help from the community to quickly report exploiters. However, the form was closed due to the addition of display names in Roblox,[9] which made it harder to ban people via video proof.
Cheater Island
Main article: Cheater Island The Cheater Island was originally implemented to deal with the increase of exploiting and hacking cases in Jailbreak due to the game's rising popularity. If an exploiter was detected by the game's anti-cheat script or manually banned by the game's developers, they would be teleported into the cage and locked in there permanently. If an exploiter figured out a way to get out of the cage by means of exploits, they would only be able to walk around and not interact to any of the game's features.
Responding to a tweet, asimo3089 said that Jailbreak no longer used the cage system to punish hackers and exploiters. Prior to the Jailbreak Ban Jail's addition, exploiters would be given a ban message, which would disable their account from playing the game ever again.
However, the Cheater Island still remains to be emblematic of Jailbreak's anti-cheat system[10] and as a warning to exploiters.

Trivia
- Previously, if a player was banned, a "disconnected" message would appear, which said "You were kicked from this game. You are banned."
- asimo3089 said that despite being asked, he would not show ban proof to anyone so that exploiters would not figure out a way to counteract with the ban system.[11]
Accuracy of Bans
- In December 2019, the exploit detection system was detecting false positives, leading to some innocent players getting caged in the Cheater Island.[12] This was quickly fixed after a few hours.
- asimo3089 has openly stated that a player can only be banned if there is video evidence and exploit programs are detected on the user.[2] If a player is banned/unbanned, it will be logged,[3] and the developers review most of the bans in-person.[4]
Reasons of Bans
- Players are not banned for using glitches, as while glitches are not intended, they are not third-party software meant to alter gameplay.[15]
- asimo3089 temporarily banned famous YouTube creator KreekCraft as a joke for his stream.[16][17]
- The first known person to be put into the Cheater Island cage was a player and YouTuber named MathFacter360. He was caged after being mistaken for teleporting around the map to arrest criminals. This was false, as he was live streaming and asking people to help him farm arrests so he could get to Level 50 on the Police team to buy the Arachnid. The ban was soon reverted.[18]
- One of the richest players in Jailbreak was banned for investigation, as the developers discovered an autorobbing script that contained her username: it would kick any autorobbers in any server she was currently in.[19]
- It was later revealed that the script was used by her to exploit.[20]
- While most of the recorded bans have been given for exploiting in-game, according to the agreement form in the Jailbreak Ban Jail, a particular point said that a user who has been banned once "could be banned again for any reason including but not limited to cheating".
Unban Gamepass
- The unban gamepass used to cost
1,500, but was changed to
1,200 after the 2024 Live Event, presumably alongside the other Gamepasses that were discounted. This was probably unintentional. - Previously, players could not ask for an unban.[21]
