The Minimap is a feature with new additions in Jailbreak which was added in the Official Release of Jailbreak. Located in the bottom left of the player's screen, or top-right on Mobile, players have the option to close it or leave it open. To close the Minimap, simply press the circle button located near the frame of the Minimap.
Overview
The Minimap shows where Criminals (red circle) and Police officers (blue circle), and are currently on the map. The players viewing themselves will be depicted as an arrow. Below is how each respected team uses the Minimap during their gameplay. However, players from opposite teams will only blink on the minimap when they are near. Moreover, they can spot the players from their same team wherever they are
Usage
Teams
Prisoners can use it when escaping, to check where the Police officers are, and use an escape method which will lower the chances of Police intercepting them.
Criminals can use it to check where Police are, and if in a robbery, can make sure they get out without getting arrested.
Police officers can use it to pinpoint the location of Criminals, and find Criminals who are hiding from them and arrest them.
Waypoints
Waypoints are a feature that can be used to track down enemies on either team or to find new locations. They can also act as a racing finish line for yourself, to track down laps, or even help you when lost around the Map.
To use Waypoints, simply open the Map by pressing M or pressing the Minimap. To add a Waypoint, select the "Add Waypoint" button which will allow you to select anywhere on the Map with a simple click. To remove the Waypoint, simply select the "Remove Waypoint" button. By closing the Minimap, you can see arrows near your character leading you to the marked waypoint. Waypoints will automatically remove themselves when you reach your destination.
Waypoints have been teased to be expanded one day, allowing you to see new vehicles as teased on Badimo Twitter with the following: "Waypoints will automatically guide you to our newest vehicle/additions in future updates!"
They are automatically added once you grabbed a Cargo Ship crate, entered the Bank Truck with another police officer, obtained an uranium rod from the Power Plant or stole items from the Oil Rig, Jewelry Store, Museum or Crown Jewel pointing you to the destination to collect your cash.

Trivia
- This feature was added in the Official Release of Jailbreak.
- For almost seven months (3/3/18 - 9/29/18), the Minimap stayed completely the same, even after various buildings were introduced.
- For some reason in the February 2019 Update, the Minimap intended for the August 2018 Update was used for an unknown reason.
- The Glider Store and the Museum did not show up on the Minimap before the 2018 Fall Update.
- As of the Nukes Update, the Minimap no longer covers your bounty.
- Also in the same update, mobile users are now able to use the Minimap, although the area they can view is less than that of what a computer player would see.
- A Miscellaneous Update in January 2018 changed the players' own dot to a white color for possible indication.
- This was removed sometime in mid-2018.
- When the Minimap was revamped in the Nukes Update, there was a glitch where the arrow of the player's location would point in the wrong direction than where they were facing.
- This was patched in the Cargo Ship Update.
- After the Oceans/Ships live update, the Minimap still used the old map instead of the new one, and if players entered the ocean it would show as if they were off the map.
- This was later patched.
- If a vehicle glitches under the map, it will show the player's character by the river near the Dune Buggy spawn. It is unknown why it shows this spot of all places, but it may have something to do with the fact that this spot is the center of the map, but it is more mysterious why it doesn't show what is directly above the player.
- In the March 2022 Update, Waypoints were added to help players mark new locations and act as a finish line for races.
- Waypoints could be expanded to help players find new vehicles.
